Set up Command Code
Install the Command Code CLI and cmduse, authenticate, and take your first usage reading.
Command Code is the subscription cmduse reports on. Two pieces are involved:
the Command Code CLI (which holds your API key) and the cmduse binary (which
reads it).
1. Log in to the Command Code CLI
cmduse reads your key from ~/.commandcode/auth.json. If that file is missing,
install the Command Code CLI and sign in:
cmd loginIf you would rather not touch the stored key, export one for the shell instead:
export CMD_API_KEY=...CMD_API_KEY takes precedence over the file, so it works for a one-off run or a
second account.
2. Install cmduse
brew install JeffreyJYZ/tap/cmduse # macOS
cargo install cmd-usage # any platform with Rustcargo binstall cmd-usage also works and skips the compile — the release
publishes prebuilt binaries.
3. Take a reading
Print one frame and exit:
cmduse -1Drop the -1 for the live dashboard, which redraws in place. When stdout is a
pipe or NO_COLOR is set, colour is dropped automatically, so it is safe to call
from a script.
OpenCode Go and Zen
The same crate ships ocuse, which tracks OpenCode's Go subscription and Zen
pay-as-you-go usage with the same CLI shape:
ocuse -1
ocuse modelIt reads opencode's own local store rather than an account API, since OpenCode
publishes none. Point either binary at a different build with CMDUSE_BIN /
OCUSE_BIN.
